Richard has held several senior roles across the NHS. These include CIO for the Isle of Man, Deputy CTO for the NHS in England, and Director of Information Governance and Cyber Security at NHS Digital (HSCIC). As an experienced NHS CIO, Richard’s career has focussed on IT and strategy, service transformation, major IT service and contract reviews, and outsourcing. 

He’s also carved a path as a recognised expert and thought leader in Information Governance and Cyber Security Strategy, supporting Dame Fiona Caldicott as Director of the “Caldicott 2” report and review into Data Security, Consent and opt-outs for Health and Care in England.

Richard is a keen yachtsman and is the sail training instructor for the charity “Sailing for the Disabled.”
